Pod Systems in Canada: Buy the Ecosystem, Not the Device
Most guides to pod systems compare devices. That is the wrong end of the decision, and our own sales data says so: of the 591 pod-system orders we filled in the last 180 days, the top sellers are not devices at all — they are refills.
A pod system is a subscription you buy the hardware for once. The device costs $9 to $47. What decides whether you are happy in six months is what the refills cost and whether you can get them.
The number that decides it: cost per refill
| Refill | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Vaporesso XROS Series Pods (4-pack) | $12.74 | 4 pods — our single best-selling refill |
| MOTI GO Pro 12000 Pod (2-pack) | $9.99 | 2 pods |
| MOTI GO Pro 12000 Pod (single) | $8.50 | 1 pod |
| Uwell Caliburn G3 Pods (4-pack) | $21.99 | 4 pods |
| Allo Sync Pod (3-pack) | $18.99 | 3 pods, pre-filled |
| STLTH X Pod Pack (3-pack) | $18.99 | 3 pods, pre-filled |
Notice the split. The cheapest refills — the Vaporesso and Uwell 4-packs — are empty pods you fill yourself. The $18.99 3-packs are pre-filled: no bottle, no mess, but you pay for the e-liquid at pod prices.
That is the real fork in the road, and it is worth doing the arithmetic before you buy a device.
Refillable vs pre-filled: the actual maths
| Refillable (empty pods + bottle) | Pre-filled (closed pods) | |
|---|---|---|
| Pods | $12.74 for 4 — reusable several times each | $18.99 for 3 — single use |
| E-liquid | ~$0.90/mL from a 30 mL bottle | ~$3.17/mL, included in the pod |
| Effort | You fill it; you carry a bottle | Click in, vape, discard |
| Flavour switching | Buy another bottle | Buy another pod |
| Failure mode | Wrong PG/VG burns the coil | Nothing to get wrong |
Refillable is roughly a third of the running cost. Pre-filled is the one you will actually keep using if you dislike maintenance. Neither answer is wrong — but picking a device before deciding which camp you are in is how people end up with hardware in a drawer.
One warning that comes up constantly: if you go refillable, match the e-liquid PG/VG to your pod. A thick high-VG liquid in a small pod coil will not wick fast enough and you get a burnt taste within a day. That is a compatibility mistake, not a bad bottle.
What Canadians are buying
From 180 days of our own orders across the whole pod-system range:
| # | Product | Type |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Vaporesso XROS Series Replacement Pods (4-pack) | Refillable pods |
| 2 | MOTI GO Pro 12000 Replacement Pod (2-pack) | Refill |
| 3 | MOTI GO Pro 12000 Replacement Pod | Refill |
| 4 | Allo Sync Pod (3-pack) — Grapefruit | Pre-filled |
| 5 | Uwell Caliburn G3 Replacement Pods (4-pack) | Refillable pods |
| 6 | STLTH X Pod Pack (3-pack) — Tobacco | Pre-filled |
Five of the top six are refills, not devices. That is what a healthy pod ecosystem looks like — people bought hardware once and keep coming back for consumables. It is also the clearest signal about which brands to trust: XROS, MOTI GO Pro, Caliburn G3 and STLTH all have refills moving steadily, which means stock is reliable.
The question to ask before you buy a device
Not “is this a good device?” but “will I be able to buy pods for it in a year?”
Pod systems are proprietary. When a brand discontinues a line, the device becomes a paperweight — and we see this happen. The safest picks are the ones where refills are consistently in stock, because that is evidence of an active supply chain rather than a one-off shipment.
Right now that means the XROS series, MOTI GO Pro, Caliburn G3 and the STLTH range. Our replacement pods section is the honest place to check — if a device's pods are not there, think twice about the device.
Starting prices
| Device | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Vaporesso XROS 5 30W Pod Kit | $22.99 | Refills at $12.74 for 4 — the cheapest ecosystem we stock |
| Vaporesso XROS 5 Mini 30W | $14.99 | Same pods, smaller body |
| UWell Caliburn G4 Pod Kit 35W | $40.99 | Refills at $21.99 for 4 |
Across our in-stock pod range prices run from $3.99 to $46.99, with a median of $28.82. The spread is mostly devices at the top and refills at the bottom.

Frequently asked questions
A few refills, typically — you replace it when the flavour dulls or it starts tasting burnt. There is no fixed number; sweeter liquids shorten coil life.
Not any — match the PG/VG. Small pod coils need thinner, higher-PG salt liquid. A thick high-VG bottle will not wick fast enough and will burn.
Almost never. Pod formats are proprietary, and even within one brand, generations change — check the device name against the pod packaging before ordering.
If you go refillable, substantially: around $0.90/mL against roughly $1.25–$1.60/mL for disposables. If you use pre-filled pods, the gap narrows or disappears — you are paying for convenience, not savings.
Canada caps nicotine concentration at 20 mg/mL. Pre-filled pods sold legally here are at or below that.
Yes, we ship across Canada including Quebec. Provincial flavour rules can affect which pre-filled options are available.
The short version
Buy the ecosystem, not the device. Five of our top six pod-system sellers are refills, which tells you where the ongoing cost sits and which brands have reliable supply. Decide refillable versus pre-filled before you pick hardware — refillable runs at roughly a third of the cost, pre-filled is the one you will keep using if you dislike maintenance. And before buying any device, check that its pods are actually stocked.
